Songs for Meetings and Campfire Programs

April 27, 2019 Leave a Comment

Songs are a fun way to add some fun to a meeting or to get everyone involved in a campfire program.

What’s your favorite song? Do you have the lyrics or a video of it? Contact me and I’ll share it here.

Moose with the Juice Song
The song about the moose drinking his juice is a favorite for all ages. It works at a Scout campfire or at a Cub Scout back to school program.
Jaws Song (Baby Shark Song)
Scouts were singing this song long before it was a pop phenomenon. Instead of Baby Shark, we called it Jaws Song. This is a classic camp song. There are lots of variations. If you want to ham it up even more, change your voice when singing the different verses to sound like a mama, papa, lady, etc.
Trustworthy Tommy Song
Webelos need to learn about the Scout Law for their Webelos badge and their Arrow of Light Award. This classic Scout song is a fun way to help them learn it.
Thanksgiving Song
Here is a silly song for the Cub Scouts to sing on Thanksgiving. Use this for any of the Cub Scout music requirements
Princess Pat Song
Here's another song which LC sang at Scout camp and ZM sang at Webelos camp. This silly song actully has some real history behind it. Princess Patricia was a member of the British royal family. A Canadian infantry unit was named in her honor. She designed their regimental colors - a red flag with a purple circle in the center. In the middle were the gold letters VP, which stood for Victoria Patricia. The flag was called a Ric-A-Dam-Do, which means "cloth of your mother" in Gaelic.
Carve the Pumpkin Halloween Song
If you have a den meeting or pack meeting near Halloween, then this song is a fun way to get everyone singing. And it is not just for Cub Scouts! This would be fun at any class party or Halloween party. It is not gory, so it is fine for very young children.
Veteran’s Day Military Cadence
Today is Veteran's Day. I'd like to thank all of the veterans who have kept us safe and free over the years. If you have a Scouting event today, this is the perfect opportunity to teach your Scouts to thank these heroes.
Bring Back My Bunny to Me Song
This song is from the old program helps and fits in well with the Abracadabra program theme . Add some actions (shown in italics) and ham it up to get the Cub Scouts involved.
911 Song
This silly song is a favorite with my sons. Yes, it involves crashing into trees, ambulance rides, blood, and the word cops. But it seems to be the type of song kids enjoy singing. Don't ask me why.
The Twelve Days of Camping Song
Heres another silly song for you. This works well at Christmas (because of the tune) or at camp (because of the theme).
The Little Green Frog Song
This is a fun song to do with a Cub Scout pack or den. It is full of boy humor. Make sure you get the parents to sing along also. That makes it really fun for the youth.
Cub Scout Song Book
Amy wrote me and asked me if I would post a Cub Scout song book she made to fill a ticket for her Woodbadge course. My answer was yes!
Boom Chicka Boom Song
The lyrics in the post are the ones we used at the pack meeting. Feel free to add your own variations in the comments.
The Germ Song for Germs Alive!
Where do I find the "Germ Song", the Mucus demonstration and the Sneeze demonstration? - Find them here!
Bazooka Bubblegum Song
This is one of DS's favorite scout songs. We hear this one a lot at camp, on hikes, and on hayrides. I'll warn you that when they start singing this, they tend to sing it over and over and over again. The best I can describe the tune is that it is sort of a rap style tune.
My Turtle Swims Sideways
ZM sang this song at Webelos camp and LC sang it at Scout camp and they've continued singing it since. This song is just humor. (This is one of the most commented upon posts on my blog!)
Star Wars Song
A while back, I posted the Fast Food Song. This week, I have a Star Wars song with the same tune. Sure, Star Wars isn't science, but it is science fiction and it's fun. That's enough reason to use it to add some pizazz to any science themed meeting.
I Like Bananas, Coconuts, and Grapes Song for Cub Scouts
I Like Bananas, Coconuts, and Grapes is a very simple song, which makes it a perfect interlude for a meeting with Cub Scouts. It is sometimes called The Tarzan Song. Try using it with the Jungle of Fun Cub Scout theme.
Rags Song (A Kid’s Song About a Dog)
This song would be fun for any Cub Scout sing along or pets themed meeting. It is sung to the tune of Six Little Ducks.
The Fast Food Song
The Fast Food Song is fun for Scouts. It is an action song and would fit in well with a nutrition themed meeting.
The Noble Captain Kirk Song
Everyone familiar with the Star Trek series knows how much they like to beam people back and forth the transporter. Sing this song as a tribute to the series.
Cool and Creamy Skit/Song
This is a funny skit just because it is so messy. I have seen this performed by camp staff many times. Cub Scouts love watching their counselors cover each other in shaving cream!
Twinkie Song
A silly song to the tune of "Do a Deer" from The Sound of Music. Could be used to take a break in a den meeting or pack meeting or as part of a campfire program.
Take Me Out to the Forest Song
Take Me Out to the Forest is a classic Scouting song. Sing it around the campfire, when you're out on a hike, or when you are camping.
Announcements Song
The Announcements Song will add some laughs to the dry business parts of your meetings. Sing "Announcements, announcements, announcements" followed by one of the verses and then do an announcement. Sing it again and then do another announcement.
Fish and Chips and Vinegar Song
The Fish and Chips and Vinegar song fits in well with this month’s Backyard Fun theme. It includes a reminder to keep our backyards free of trash! It would also fit in well with a conservation theme.
Pizza Man Song
The Pizza Man song is a camp classic. This is one of those songs that has many different versions and they are all fun. All of the catch phrases rhyme (somewhat) with "man" and a lot of emphasis is usually put on the rhyme.
Bicycle Rodeo Applause, Cheer, and Song
A reader asked "Do you any applause that would work for the Bike Rodeo?" so here are an applause, a cheer, and a song you can use at your bicycle rodeo.
The Milk Song
This is a fun song for a campfire or for some audience participation at a Pack meeting. Plus it encourages healthy eating habits!
Auld Lang Syne
Auld Lang Syne is traditionally sung at the end of the old and the very beginning of the new year. "For auld lang syne", loosely translated, means "for old times sake". The song is used to mark endings and new beginnings. For that reason, in the Scouting movement it is sometimes used to close big events, such as jamborees.
Square Knot Song and Overhand Knot Song
Marianna from Pack 377 in Fort Meade, MD sent in these two songs which she made up to help teach herWolves about square knots and overhand knots.
