Nothing is as fun on a hot summer day as being with your friends at the pool. These ideas will help you plan a fun aquatics activity for your den or pack. Just make sure you follow the BSA safety rules.

Powdered Sports Drink Recipe

Sports drinks like Gatorade or Power Aid are designed to replenish the water and salt your body loses when you are active or exercising. You can mix up your own powdered mix to accomplish this for a fraction of the cost of purchasing these drinks by the bottle.
My Turtle Swims Sideways

ZM sang this song at Webelos camp and LC sang it at Scout camp and they've continued singing it since. This song is just humor. (This is one of the most commented upon posts on my blog!)
BSA Swim Test

The BSA swim test is used to determine ability level so that participants can swim in an area which is appropriate for them.
Jaws Song (Baby Shark Song)

Scouts were singing this song long before it was a pop phenomenon. Instead of Baby Shark, we called it Jaws Song. This is a classic camp song. There are lots of variations. If you want to ham it up even more, change your voice when singing the different verses to sound like a mama, papa, lady, etc.
Piranha Ball

Here is a another game to go with this month's aquatic theme. It can be used to fuflill requirement 2 for the Swimming belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program: "Play a recreational game in the water with your den, pack, or family." This is a good game to play if you have some kids in your group who are not strong swimmers. They can play this game in chest-deep water and still have a lot of fun. For swimmers who need more of a challenge, the group can go to deeper water and tread water while they play.
Sharksicles Recipe

Nobody wants to go out swimming and meet up with a shark! But if you are at a Cub Scout meeting and the shark is your popsicle snack, that is another story. So to go along with this month's aquatics theme for Cub Scouts, here is a snack idea.
Safe Swim Defense

Safe Swim Defense provides the steps which a BSA unit must take to safely participate in an activity which involves swimming.
SCOUT Water Safety Chant

The new Cub Scout program introduces the SCOUT water safety chant. This helps younger Scouts learn the rules for safe aquatics activities.
Sharks and Minnows

Here is a game to go with an aquatic theme. It can be used at your pack pool party or at a meeting focused on swimming skills.
Pool Tote Craft
If you are looking for a craft for your pack pool party or aquatics themed meeting, you could let the Scouts decorate their own pool totes. Then they can carry all of their squishy balls, goggles, dive sticks, and other pool accessories themselves.
CD Fish Craft
