Cub Scouts can make this craft to brighten up a holiday table. They can decorate the napkin rings any way they want. Some ideas:

I like this idea. One suggestion would be that during the holidays most place ( I definitely know Wal-Mart has them) have holiday shaped pieces that are self adhesive. I use a lot of pre cut shapes in my crafts. If you can find them, there is also self adhesive foam sheets. Our youth pastor used them one year.

Just discovered that White Cloud toilet paper has a white twice as strong tube than other brands and paper towel rolls, will be saving all theese for furture use.

This could also be done by using colored duct tape. I use pre-cut strips of cardboard from cereal boxes. Tear off a strip of duct tape 1″ longer than the cardboard. Place the cardboard at the edge of one end and centered on the tape. Form into a ring with the ends of the cardboard touching and the the extra tape overlapping on the outside then fold the tape over the edges into the center. I think duct tape is the craft medium of choice for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

I saw duct tape napkin rings in a book that were a little “fancier” and complex than this. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Have looked high and low online, can’t find any instructions.

I haven’t seen those, although my sons have made all sorts of stuff out of duct tape. It’s not difficult to make things like bracelets and I think napkin rings would be similar. You could just experiment and make your own. I’ll look around and see what I can find.
