
I like any activity that helps children consider budgeting their money. “Mom, I need a dollar for … ” 🙂 Seriously, though this is a really important concept for them to grasp. If they only get $5 a month they shouldn’t plan on spending $10.
Creating a budget fits in with any achievement related to money or math. This simple worksheet will provide a way for Cub Scouts to consider income and assets.
I also put a space at the bottom for them to figure out how much savings they can anticipate from their budget. Some kids won’t save a lot, but it is a good starting point for a discussion about saving up for future needs and wants.
