Bobcat Ceremony for Space Derby

Jennifer sent in a Bobcat advancement ceremony to share with all of you:

I recently helped put together a bobcat ceremony for our space derby. I couldn’t find one I liked, so I incorporated a lot of different ideas I had found plus my own. I think it’s worth sharing.

Thanks for the ceremony Jennifer! I’m sure some of the other Cub Scouters out there will appreciate it.

Bobcat Ceremony for Space Derby

Tonight we recognize the following boys who have earned the rank of Bobcat. Please come forward with your parents as I call your name….

When you joined our pack you stepped onto the launch pad of your scouting career. You have learned the ways of scouting and committed to doing your best. Now as you recieve your bobcat you are blasting off up the cubscout trail. We will mark your cheek with the colors of cub scouting.

(Leader marks each boy with face paint.)

Blue representing the sky, where it seems that there are no limits. Like cub scouts, the possibilities seem endless to the fun you can have, the awards you can earn, the friendships you can build, and the good person you can become.

Yellow representing the sun. The light that shows the way. The light that you are aiming for at the end of your cubscout journey is your arrow of light award.

Parents please pin the badge upside down on their left pocket, and when they complete a good turn, feel free to sew it on right side up.

The small pin is for the parents. I present to you… (read each name one at a time. Leader hand the award to a parent to pin on).

Pack 673, please join me in a countdown to cheer these boys on as they shoot off on their cubscout journey. At the blast off jump up and cheer. 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Blast off!
