The Twelve Days of Camping Song

December 26, 2010 5 Comments

Heres another silly song for you. This works well at Christmas (because of the tune) or at camp (because of the theme).

I think all of the junk food on days seven through ten plus the pocketknives on day eleven resulted in the need for all of the band aids on day twelve.

The Twelve Days of Camping

Sing this to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas

On the first day of camping,
My mommy sent to me
A hammock to tie to a tree!

On the second day of camping,
My mommy sent to me
Two cans of bug spray,
And a hammock to tie to a tree!

Hopefully you know how the song goes. Continue on as follows:

Third Day: Three bottles of sunscreen
Fourth Day: Four clean shirts
Fifth Day: Five underpants (ham it up!)
Sixth Day: Six bars of soap
Seventh Day: Seven chocolate chip cookies
Eighth Day: Eight boxes of Twinkies
Ninth Day: Nine bags of chips
Tenth Day: Ten cans of cola
Eleventh Day: Eleven pocketknives
Twelfth Day: Twelve bandaids

We made our own two years ago when my son was a Tiger.

On the first day of Christmas our Cubmaster gave to us
A Bobcat Badge turned upside down
2nd- 2 slides((in case we loose one)only said the first time)
    3rd – 3 little numbers 5-6-2 (that is our pack #)
    4th- 4 hanbooks
    5th- 5 pinewood derby cars
    6th- 6 neckerchiefs
    7th- 7 scout hats
    8th- 8 tins of popcorn
    9th- 9 knotted ropes
    10th- 10 belt loops
    11th- 11 arrow points
12th- 12 months of FUN (Cubmaster held up a calander)

For each day we had that number of props that the cubmaster had to keep giving to the Tiger den.

Not sure about the underpants thing….we try very hard to stay away from those kinds of words in our Council. Regardless of who thinks it is okay or funny, it really isn’t. We are Scout Leaders, working with Scouts, and should be promoting positive scouting at all times.

      Shelly,

I don’t understand. What is offensive or negative about underpants? It’s neither mean-spirited nor off-color. But that’s the beauty of Scouting and a song like this, you can adapt it as required for your own needs.

I wish you well in your council, but the song as written elicited a smile from these lips and will be used as is.

      Merry Christmas!
