If you’re looking for a fun and easy dessert recipe to make during your next camping trip, then look no further than this Ding Dong Cherry Cobbler! This recipe is a twist on the traditional Dutch oven cobbler, and it’s sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
One of the best things about this recipe is that it doesn’t require any special equipment or ingredients. All you need is a large Dutch oven, a mixing bowl, a spoon, a can opener, and some charcoal. Most patrols with at least one experienced camp cook could do this without difficulty.
To make the cobbler, you’ll start by preparing the charcoal. While the charcoal is heating up, mix together the cake mix, eggs, oil, and water in a bowl. Then, open up a can of cherry pie filling and pour it into the bottom of the Dutch oven.
Next, cover the pie filling with half of the cake batter. Then, arrange 12 ding dongs on top of the batter. These chocolate and cream-filled snacks will add a fun and unexpected twist to the cobbler.
Pour the remaining cake batter over the ding dongs, and then add some marshmallows on top. The marshmallows will melt and create a gooey, delicious topping for the cobbler.
Arrange 8 briquettes under the Dutch oven and 17 on top, and bake until the cake batter is cooked through – about 45 minutes. Once it’s done, let the cobbler cool for a few minutes before serving it up with a spoon.
The Ding Dong Cherry Cobbler is a fun and easy recipe that’s perfect for camping trips or other outdoor adventures. It’s a twist on the traditional Dutch oven cobbler that adds some unexpected flavor and texture to the mix.
