Shooting Troop Program Feature for Scouts BSA
One of the resources which BSA provides for Scouts BSA Troops is a set of troop program feature guides. Our troop is planning a shotgun shooting outing in August, so they will probably be looking at some of the ideas in the Shooting program feature.
Living History Troop Program Feature for Scouts BSA
The Living History feature lets Scouts experience different cultures, times, and places in an interactive and hands on manner. They witness reenactments and learn about historical events and different ways of life.
Shoot! Scouts BSA Nova Award (Astronomy and Projectile Science) Helps and Documents
Shoot! is the Scouts BSA Nova Award for investigating astronomy and projectile science. To earn this award, Scouts must complete one of their science related merit badges and learn about related topics such as space, aviation, and weather. Scouts also visit a museum or build a catapult, pitching machine, or marble run.
Whoosh! Scouts BSA Nova Award (Engineering) Helps and Documents
Whoosh! is the Scouts BSA Nova Award for investigating engineering as it relates to motion. To earn this award, Scouts must complete one of their engineering or motion related merit badges and learn about related topics such as machines and forces Scouts also dream up their own design for an amusement park, piece of playground equipment, or new method of transportation.
Hunting Ranger Elective Helps and Documents
To complete the Hunting elective for the Venturing Ranger award, Venturers must learn about regulations, take a course, and take a hunting trip. They must also show others what they have learned and assist in a project.
Shooting Sports Ranger Elective Helps and Documents
To complete the Shooting Sports elective for the Venturing Ranger award, Venturers must learn the safety rules for shooting and must complete a training course. They can choose to use an air pistol, air rifle, archery, muzzle loading rifle, pistol, shotgun, or small bore rifle. Venturers must also share what they learned with others.
