Gathering Activity
As Scouts arrive, have a soccer word search puzzle ready on tables. This gives them something calm to start with and helps manage staggered arrivals. Leaders can greet Scouts and explain the theme. If space allows, set up a small area for light ball play with clear rules. This keeps early arrivals busy without starting full games too soon.
Opening
Bring everyone together for a short opening. Welcome the Scouts and explain that the meeting will focus on soccer. Teach a few basic soccer terms they will hear during the games. Show each action as you say the word to keep it clear. End the opening with the Cub Scout Promise or another familiar opening to set the tone.
Soccer Activities
Start with Follow the Dribbler to get everyone moving. This works as a warm up and helps Scouts practice control. Next, rotate through Soccer Marbles and Soccer Croquet in small groups. Keep instructions short and encourage teamwork. If time allows, finish with Soccer Tennis or a simplified version for younger Scouts. Include water breaks as needed.
Craft Activity
After the active games, transition to the soccer zipper pulls craft. This gives Scouts a chance to rest and refocus. Have supplies prepared ahead of time to keep things moving. Keep the craft simple and offer help as needed. Encourage Scouts to make their zipper pull their own, but remind them there is no right or wrong result.
Recognition
Once the craft is finished, gather the group for recognition. This is a good time to hand out awards or give verbal praise. Recognize effort, teamwork, and good behavior during games. Keep recognition short and positive so Scouts stay engaged and end the meeting on a good note.
Closing
End with a calm closing. Ask Scouts to share one thing they enjoyed. Thank them for working together and following the rules. Remind them of the next meeting or upcoming events. Close with a simple cheer, handshake, or sign so Scouts leave feeling positive and included.
