Elbow Balloon Pass Game Directions

Equipment/Materials:

  • 1 balloon (inflated)

Setup Instructions:

  1. Have the Scouts stand in a circle. Make sure everyone can reach the person next to them with their elbows.
  2. Inflate the balloon and make sure it is not overfilled so it doesn’t pop easily.
  3. Explain the rules of the game to the Scouts.

Game Play Instructions:

  1. The goal is to pass the balloon around the circle using only elbows.
  2. Start by giving the balloon to one Scout.
  3. The Scout passes the balloon to the person next to them, using only their elbows.
  4. The balloon continues to go around the circle, passed from elbow to elbow.
  5. Count how many times the balloon goes around without dropping it.
  6. If the balloon drops, start over and try again.
  7. Repeat the game, and see if the Scouts can beat their previous record.

Variations and Safety Notes:

  • For younger Scouts, use a larger balloon and let them stand closer together.
  • For older Scouts, make the game more difficult by spacing them farther apart.
  • If the balloon pops easily, check that it’s not overinflated.
  • Make sure the playing area is free from obstacles to avoid tripping or falling.
  • If Scouts seem frustrated, remind them that teamwork and fun are the goals of the game.
