The Boy Scouts of America has a program that offers young adults an opportunity to embark on high adventure and experience personal growth in a supportive environment. This program is called Venturing. Venturing is a coed program for young adults aged 14 to 20. It offers a range of activities including outdoor adventures, community service, leadership opportunities, and personal development. Venturing also emphasizes community service. Venturers have the opportunity to give back to their communities through projects such as cleaning up parks, volunteering at food banks, and assisting with disaster relief efforts. In Venturing, teamwork is a key component. Venturers learn to work together to accomplish a common goal, whether it's planning a trip, organizing a service project, or completing a group challenge. Venturing also provides opportunities for personal development. Venturers can learn new skills such as first aid, wilderness survival, and public speaking. The Scouts BSA requirements for Tenderfoot and Life ranks require the Scout to use the BSA EDGE method to help somebody else learn a skill. This is a four step method for teaching a skill. It is sometimes called Scouting’s Teaching EDGE. EDGE is very basic, but it really does work. It will help Cub Scouts learn and retain skills also. So it is not only for Scouts BSA and Venturers, but for den leaders also.
