This is basically a go fish game with different types of food. I liked how the kids talked about the different types of food they saw on the cards.
Tiger Adventure: Tiger Bites
Tiger Bites is one of the Tiger CORE Adventure Requirements. For this adventure, Tiger Cubs and their adult partners learn about nutritious food choices, participate in mealtime chores, practice good manners and hygiene, and make a snack.
Printable helps for requirements:
Most Scouts are probably familiar with the food pyramid from school. To make the nutrition and fitness components of the Scout program more interesting, turn them into a hands-on activity.
The Fast Food Song is fun for Scouts. It is an action song and would fit in well with a nutrition themed meeting.
On this day, all are encouraged to remember that washing hands with soap is a good way to prevent diseases. Another goal is to increase the awareness of the importance of the availability of hand washing facilities. Cub Scouts can work on their hygiene requirements. Scouts BSA and Venturers might want to learn about water challenges in some regions and think about how conservation efforts might help.
August 31 is Trail Mix Day. So mix up a batch of trail mix with your Scouts. What do you like to put in your trail mix? Send me your favorite recipe and I’ll post it.
