Eagle Scout Leadership Position Requirement
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Scouts BSA. Eagle is earned after the rank of Life. ”Once an Eagle, always an Eagle”. A young woman or man who finishes his or her Scouting career at 18 years of age as a Life Scout will say “I WAS a Life Scout.” But a young woman or man who attains the rank of Eagle Scout can proudly declare “I AM an Eagle Scout” even after he or she reaches the age of 18.
A Scouts BSA Troop is actually run by its youth leaders. See the list of Scouts BSA youth leadership positions.
The Den Chief Service Award recognizes Scouts and Venturers who serve a Cub Scout den for one year, are trained, and are active members of their Troop or Crew. The award is a red, white, and blue cord, which is worn on the left shoulder under the epaulet. A certificate is also available.
A Life Scout who is on the path to Eagle must continue to develop his or her leadership skills by serving his or her troop in a position of responsibility. Unlike previous leadership requirements for Star and Life, the Scoutmaster may not assign a special project for this requirement.
I think that being elected by their peers is meaningful to many of our youth. The role of adults in these units is to train the youth leaders.
