Supernova Activity Topics are an integral part of the Venturing Supernova Award program. These topics are designed to challenge Venturers and help them progress on their STEM journey to excellence. Each STEM field – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – offers a choice of three Supernova activity topics. These activities are hands-on and high-level, consisting of two parts.
Part 1 of the activity involves research, preparation, set up, coordination, and/or organization. Part 2 focuses on analysis, reflection, experimentation, design, or invention, and culminates in a report created by the Venturer.
Regardless of the chosen STEM activity, a report must be created. Reports are an essential part of STEM professionals’ work, so this requirement prepares Venturers for future career demands. The report can be created in various formats, such as an oral report, written report, poster presentation, virtual poster, video production, multifaceted format, or any format of the Venturer’s own design with the mentor’s approval. The objective is to effectively communicate what has been learned and how it was learned.
It’s important to note that the resources provided for each Supernova activity topic are optional and serve as suggestions.
