Team Tiger Adventure: Cub Scout Helps and Ideas

Team Tiger is one of the Tiger required adventures. The Team Tiger adventure focuses on the essential skill of teamwork and aims to teach Cub Scouts how to be a valuable member of various teams in their life.

Teamwork is a crucial ability that young people will carry with them throughout their lives, both within and beyond Cub Scouts. The Team Tiger Adventure begins by encouraging parents to engage in a meaningful conversation with their children about the concept of teamwork. Together, they explore what it truly means to be part of a team and discuss the teams their child is already a member of, such as their den, pack, family, or school. This conversation will help Cub Scouts understand how they can contribute and make a positive impact within each team.

An integral part of the Team Tiger Adventure is fostering teamwork within the Cub Scout den. Youth will have the opportunity to work alongside their fellow Tigers, discussing and understanding the dynamics of their Tiger team. Through the creation of a chart, they will explore the different ways team members can support and assist the den. Tiger Cub Scouts are encouraged to take on leadership roles, such as leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and volunteer for various tasks, as this promotes cooperation and shared responsibility within the den.

The Team Tiger Adventure goes beyond the den and family, allowing Tiger Cub Scouts to make a positive impact on their community and country. They will participate in a service project, experiencing the power of collective effort and understanding the importance of giving back. Furthermore, they will discover the strength that comes from embracing both the similarities and differences among their teammates, recognizing the unique qualities that make their team stronger.

Complete requirements 1 and 2 plus at least two others

1. With your parent, guardian, or other caring adult, or with your den, talk about what it means to be part of a team.
   List some of the teams you are on (den, pack, family, class, etc.), and explain how you can help each one.
2. With your den, talk about your Tiger team. Then make a chart showing all the different ways team members can
   help the den. Volunteer to take your turn doing at least two different jobs, one of which is leading the Pledge of
   Allegiance.
3. With your family, talk about how family members each have a role in the family team. Then pick a job that you will
   do to help the team. Follow through by doing that job at least three times during the next three weeks.
4. With your den or family, participate as a team in a service project that helps our country or your community.
5. With your den, make a chart or picture showing how you and your teammates make a better team because you are
   alike in some ways but different in others.

Tips for Fulfilling Requirement 1 of the Team Tiger Adventure

• Initiate a conversation: Take the time to have a meaningful discussion with your Tiger Cub Scout about what it means to be part of a team. Encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas, and actively listen to their perspective.
• Identify teams: Help your child identify the different teams they are part of, such as their Cub Scout den, school class, family, or sports team. Discuss the roles and responsibilities within each team and how they contribute to the overall success.
• Emphasize teamwork values: Talk about the importance of teamwork and the values associated with it, such as cooperation, respect, communication, and supporting others. Help your child understand that being a valuable team member means working together towards common goals.
• Lead by example: Share examples from your own experiences where teamwork played a crucial role. Explain how you contribute to your own teams and the positive impact it has on the collective effort.
• Encourage reflection: Ask your child to reflect on how they can contribute to each team they are part of. Help them brainstorm specific ways they can help, whether it’s listening to others, offering assistance, or actively participating in team activities.

Remember, the goal is to foster a deeper understanding of teamwork and cultivate a sense of responsibility and contribution within your child. By engaging in open conversations and providing guidance, you can support them in fulfilling requirement 1 of the Team Tiger adventure.

Tips for Fulfilling Requirement 2 of the Team Tiger Adventure

1. Discuss the Tiger team: Start by discussing the Tiger team with the Cub Scouts. Talk about the importance of teamwork within the den and how it contributes to the overall success of the group.
2. Create a den job chart (see below): Create a den job chart that outlines the various tasks and responsibilities needed during den meetings. Include roles such as leading the Pledge of Allegiance, setup, assisting with activities, or reading the Scout Law.
3. Rotate job assignments: Encourage your Cub Scout to take turns with different jobs on the den job chart. This helps them develop a sense of responsibility, leadership, and fairness among the team members.
4. Volunteer for multiple jobs: Motivate your Cub Scout to volunteer for at least two different jobs on the den job chart. This provides them with a variety of experiences and opportunities to contribute in different ways.
5. Reflect on their contributions: After completing their assigned jobs, discuss with your Cub Scout how their contributions positively impact the den and their fellow Scouts. Help them recognize the value of their efforts and the importance of teamwork in achieving shared goals.

Remember, the goal is to actively engage Cub Scouts in the den activities, promote teamwork, and foster a sense of responsibility within the Tiger team. By following these tips, you can help Tiger Cub Scouts fulfill requirement 2 of the Team Tiger adventure successfully.

Den Job Chart

Cub Scouts eagerly embrace opportunities to contribute during den meetings. To ensure a fair distribution of responsibilities, den leaders often utilize a den job chart for requirement 2 of the Team Tiger adventure. This chart serves as a visual aid, helping to allocate various tasks among the Scouts. By rotating jobs among the den members, every Cub Scout gets the chance to take on different roles and develop a sense of responsibility within the den. As Cub Scouts eagerly check the chart to discover their assigned roles, they foster a spirit of involvement and engagement in the den meetings, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere for everyone involved.

Tips for Fulfilling Requirement 3 of the Team Tiger Adventure

• Family discussion: Engage in a family discussion about the roles and responsibilities within the family team. Discuss how each family member contributes to the overall functioning of the family.
• Choose a job: Encourage the Tiger Cub Scout to select a specific job or task that they can take on to help the family team. It could be something like setting the table for meals, feeding a pet, or tidying up their room.
• Consistency is key: Emphasize the importance of consistency and follow-through. The Tiger Cub Scout should commit to doing the chosen job at least three times over the next three weeks.
• Offer guidance and support: As the Tiger Cub Scout takes on their chosen job, provide guidance and support to ensure they understand how to complete the task effectively. Offer encouragement and acknowledge their efforts as they fulfill their responsibilities.
• Reflect and discuss: After the three-week period, have a conversation with the Tiger Cub Scout about their experience. Discuss how their contribution helped the family team and how it made a positive impact on the household.

By engaging in these tips, the Tiger Cub Scout can understand the concept of family teamwork and develop a sense of responsibility within the family unit. Completing requirement 3 of the Team Tiger adventure will foster their understanding of the importance of contributing to their family team and working together towards shared goals.

Tips for Fulfilling Requirement 4 of the Team Tiger Adventure

• Research service project opportunities: Begin by researching service project opportunities in the community or for the benefit of the country. Look for projects that align with the interests and capabilities of the Tiger Cub Scout den. See below for some ideas.
• Collaborate with the den or family: Coordinate with the den leader or gather family members to discuss and choose a service project that everyone is passionate about. Consider the skills, resources, and time available to ensure a successful project.
• Plan and prepare: Once the service project is selected, create a plan outlining the tasks, timeline, and necessary resources. Assign responsibilities to different members of the den or family, ensuring everyone has a meaningful role to play.
• Execute the project: Work together as a team to carry out the service project. Whether it involves cleaning up a park, organizing a food drive, or supporting a local charity, ensure that safety measures are followed and that everyone actively participates.
• Reflect on the experience: After completing the service project, take the time to reflect as a den or family. Discuss the impact of the project on the community or country, and the personal growth and fulfillment gained from helping others.

The goal is to engage in a service project that benefits the community or country while fostering teamwork and a sense of social responsibility. By following these tips, the Tiger Cub Scout den or family can successfully fulfill requirement 4 of the Team Tiger adventure and make a positive difference in the world around them.

Service Project Ideas

The Team Tiger adventure encourages young Cub Scouts to engage in feasible service projects. Generating ideas can be challenging, but there are numerous possibilities. For instance, collecting canned goods for a local food pantry or visiting an animal shelter. Other ideas include planting trees and delivering care bags to the homeless. Tips for Fulfilling Requirement 5 of the Team Tiger Adventure

1. Encourage open discussion: Initiate a conversation among the Tiger Cub Scouts about the importance of teamwork and the benefits of having both similarities and differences among teammates. Create an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing their thoughts and ideas.
2. Create a visual representation: Together as a den, create a chart or picture that showcases how each team member contributes to making a better team. Highlight both the similarities and differences among the team members, emphasizing how these unique qualities enhance the overall team dynamic.
3. Identify strengths and differences: Encourage each team member to recognize and appreciate their individual strengths and differences. Discuss how these qualities can be harnessed to complement each other, leading to a more effective and diverse team.
4. Reflect and discuss the impact: After creating the chart or picture, gather the den members for a reflection session. Discuss the insights gained from recognizing similarities and differences among team members. Encourage open dialogue about how embracing these qualities improves the team’s overall effectiveness and unity.

By following these tips, the Tiger Cub Scouts will develop a deeper understanding of the value of teamwork, appreciate the strengths and differences within the team, and foster a more inclusive and supportive team environment. Requirement 5 of the Team Tiger adventure will be successfully fulfilled while promoting a stronger sense of camaraderie among the den.

This video introduces the Team Tiger adventure, emphasizing the importance of teamwork. To complete the adventure, Tiger Scouts must complete at least four out of five steps. Step one involves discussing the meaning of being part of a team with a trusted adult. Step two is creating a chart showcasing ways team members can assist the den. Additional steps include discussing family roles, participating in a service project, and creating a chart or picture highlighting the team’s similarities and differences.
