Script or Ceremony for Venturing Ranger Award

Venturing is a BSA program for young men and women. The Venturing Ranger Award exemplifies a challenging high-level outdoor/high-adventure skills program.

Mary Beth sent in this question:

We are planning my son’s Eagle COH and he also recently earned his Venturing Ranger Award. The Crew Leader has agreed to award this during his COH but I can not find any type of “script” for the Ranger Award for the Crew Leader to use. Any suggestions?

First of all, congratulations to your son. Eagle and Ranger! That’s a special accomplishment.

No, I am not aware of any script or ceremony for the presentation of the Venturing Ranger award.

Since it is being presented during the Eagle Court of Honor, you don’t really need a full ceremony. Just some remarks from the Crew advisor (or Crew President ) will do. I suggest your son and his advisor talk about what he feels he most learned from the award, what was the most fun, most challenging, etc. The Crew Advisor can then prepare some remarks about what your son did to earn the award. I think this is important, because while many at the COH might be familiar with what goes into becoming an Eagle Scout, fewer probably understand all that has to be done to earn the Ranger award.

Then the award can be presented, either by the Advisor or the parents.

If your son has any table top displays or other items related to earning the award, I suggest he display those at the Court of Honor.

Scouters, what are your ideas for the Ranger award presentation? Please leave them in the comments below.
