Fishing Troop Program Feature for Boy Scouts

There are many preplanned programs available to PLCs who are planning meetings and activities for their troops. One of these is the  Fishing Troop Program Feature .  This fishing program feature offers the opportunity to learn more about how to have fun when something fishy is going on.

The plans for the Fishing troop program feature can be found in  Volume 2 of Troop Program Features from BSA:

Give a boy some line and a hook and let him go fishing and he can have endless fun. The sport of fishing can be done with a simple cane pole or a fancy graphite pole and specialty reel.

Younger scouts can work on their early rank requirements, including physical fitness, boating safety, and swimming safety and skills.  Older scouts can earn the Camping, Fishing, and Fly Fishing merit badges. Another merit badge opportunity might be the Fish and Wildlife Management Merit Badge.

The featured activity for this month is a “fishing frolic” where Scouts learn some basic fishing skills and hopefully reel in that big fish.
