BSA Webelos Den Meeting Plan 4 – Traveler and Athlete

BSA provides den meeting plans for den leader on the Scouting.org website. Today, I am going to go through the fourth Webelos plan. If you don’t already have the BSA den meeting plans, download BSA Webelos Den Meeting Plan 4 to follow along with this article.

This plan completes Athlete and does all of Traveler. It also completes the Geography belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. See my Webelos Athlete activity badge page and my Webelos Traveler activity badge page for more resources related to these badges. The Traveler pages includes an alternate den meeting plan for this activity badge.

You will need access to a computer to complete this BSA Webelos den meeting plan. If you don’t have access to a computer at your meeting place, consider doing alternate requirements for Traveler. Once again, see my Traveler page for more ideas.

These plans are meant to be done in order, so do the previous plans first.

Preparation and Before the Meeting

Like some of the other BSA meeting plans, this one is jammed packed full of activities, so it is important not only to have your materials, but to have them organized and ready to go.

State Capitals Bingo makes a fun gathering activity for this meeting. Or play Red Light Green Light.  Webelos still enjoy playing the occasional goofy game.

Do a simple opening flag ceremony with one of the Webelos leading. Each Webelos must lead one ceremony to get his Webelos badge.

Keep it short so you can get to the activities. As part of the business items, you are checking that they completed their requirements for the Athlete activity badge.

The suggestion to have different stations will help you get through all of this material. You will need plenty of help to pull that off though. Time will be a concern at this meeting though. I’m not sure I could get through all of this material in one sitting.

You might want to check out my Travel Safety Checklist for help with that requirement. Most of the other requirements are pretty straightforward.

Do some sort of closing ceremony. You could use the Scout Law prayer as a way of reinforcing the Scout law, which they need to understand and memorize before they cross over to Boy Scouts.

After the Meeting

I’m sure you’re exhausted after this action packed meeting. Sit down, take a deep breath, and give yourself a pat on the back.
