Take a bike ride with your adult partner.
Tiger Cub Electives – Group or Individual? All Tiger Cub activities are to be done with an adult partner. The adult partner can be a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, etc. I've even had a college aged sibling do activities with Tiger Cubs.
May Cub Scout Theme – Destination Parks (Health and Fitness) BSA offers supplemental pack program ideas for each month. One of the Cub Scout themes for the May core value of Health and Fitness is a Destination Parks theme.
BSA Tiger Supplemental Den Meeting Plan J - Go See It: Visit a Bike Repair Shop and Take a Bike Ride This Tiger Cub Scout den meeting plan covers Tiger Elective 38 – Bicycle Repair and Tiger Elective 37 – Take a Bicycle Ride.
Powdered Sports Drink Recipe Sports drinks like Gatorade or Power Aid are designed to replenish the water and salt your body loses when you are active or exercising. You can mix up your own powdered mix to accomplish this for a fraction of the cost of purchasing these drinks by the bottle.
Bike Rodeo Our pack might be doing a bike rodeo this year. I have visited these before, but we have never put one on ourselves. So I am researching possible "stations" which the kids can rotate through for the activity.
Bicycle License Plate Craft This month I am featuring a cycling theme. If you are doing this theme with Cub Scouts, they might enjoy making their own "license plates" for their bikes. They can put their names on them or decorate them however they like.
Bicycle Helmet Fitting This month I am focusing on cycling. Helmets are required for all BSA cycling activities. It is important to note that this applies to adults also. Your helmet isn't going to do you much good if it doesn't fit correctly. Here are some guidelines.
Bicycling Pin for Cub Scouts If your Cub Scout has earned the Bicycling belt loop, he can take it one step further and earn the Bicycling pin. Both recognition are from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. So find some nice bike trails in your area, pack some snacks and plenty of water, and go riding!
Cycling Theme I am featuring a Bikes theme this month. This theme has lots of useful information for Cub Scouts, but much of it applies to Boy Scouts and Venturers also. Boy Scouts can use the aids you will see this month with the Cycling merit badge. And Venturers will find this information useful for the Cycling/Mountain Biking elective for the Ranger Award.
Bike Hike Safety and Etiquette Before going on a bicycle ride with a group of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, or Venturers, review some bike safety and etiquette rules. Includes a printable discussion aid.
