Cub Scout Archives: Bear Elective 12 - Nature Crafts

Nature is a fun world to get to know.
When you go on a hike with a group in the woods, watch for animal tracks. Look at the trees and see how many you can name. If you look carefully, you will see that the rocks are many shapes, sizes, and colors.

Bear Elective 12 Requirements

  1. Make solar prints of three kinds of leaves.
  2. Make a display of eight different animal tracks with an eraser print.
  3. Collect, press, and label ten kinds of leaves.
  4. Build a waterscope and identify five types of water life.
    Collect eight kinds of plant seeds and label them.
  5. Collect, mount, and label ten kinds of rocks or minerals.
  6. Collect, mount, and label five kinds of shells.
  7. Build and use a bird caller

Bear Electives and Arrow Points

Arrow points can be confusing. Each part of an elective counts toward arrow points. In addition, Bears can use the requirements from any achievements they did not do as part of the Bear badge.

Leaf Collection Craft

one of the Wolves didn’t know what to collect for Wolf Achievement 6 – Start a Collection. I knew he spent a lot of time outdoors and enjoyed nature, so I suggested he make a leaf collection. His mom helped him make a display book for his leaves as described.
