Bear Elective Adventure Requirements: Beat of the Drum

Beat of the Drum is one of the Bear elective adventures. For the Beat of the Drum adventure, Bears learn about native American culture.

The requirement for this adventure are shown below. Upon completion of this adventure, Bears will receive a belt loop.

Requirements for the Beat of the Drum Bear Adventure

  1. Learn about the history and culture of American Indians who lived in your area at the time of European colonization.
  2. Write a legend.
  3. Make a dream catcher.
  4. Make a craft.
  5. Make a drum. Once your drum is complete, create a ceremonial song.
  6. Visit an Order of the Arrow dance ceremony or American Indian event within your community.
  7. Learn about ceremonial dances and learn dance steps.
  8. Create a dance.

    “Visit an Order of the Arrow dance ceremony or American Indian event within your community”…WE are trying to figure this out. I contacted my local OA and they do not have a dance team and have no resources. HELP. How can we get this done?

    You can watch a documentary of one if you are not able to actually see one in person. You can interpret the activities as to fit what you are able to do. Hope this helps.
