Being able to identify hazardous plants will help all Scouts who are in the outdoors, so this knowledge is not just for rank advancement.  The link below will take you to a nice quiz on the Boy’s Life website which will teach you about seven different plants which might cause a reaction such as a rash or itchiness if you come in contact with them.

First you are shown a picture of the plant and given some possible choices about what type of plant it might be. After you submit your answer, you can see if you were right or wrong. It also tells you the typical habitat for the plant, what parts of the US it can be found in, what types of reaction it causes, and identifying characteristics. At the end of the quiz it tells you how many you correctly identified.

    Thank you for the resource! This also helps with the Webelos Walkabout adventure.

    And for scouts starting on Tenderfoot after January 1, there will be an extra requirement for prevention/avoidance, not just identification and treatment.
