This is the eighth in the series of Tiger den meeting plans provide by BSA. If you are using this series, it works best if you do the plans in order. So do the previous meetings before this one.
This meeting plan covers the Go See It for Tiger Achievement 4 – How I Tell It. Follow the link for more ideas for completing this achievement.
Since this meeting is a Go See It, so the main activity will be visiting a newspaper office, or radio or television station.

BSA Tiger Den Meeting 8 – Go See It: How I Tell It
Preparation and Before the Meeting
Most of the preparation for this meeting is arranging to visit a newspaper office, radio station, or television station. With one of my dens, we visited the local Radio Disney station. That was a lot of fun and they were used to having groups of kids in their studio. They even let them make a 60 second spot. They didn’t play it on the air, but the kids had fun editing it and hearing how their recorded voices sounded.
With my other den we visited a local weekly newspaper. They go to press on Fridays so we visited early in the week and the editor spent a lot of time with them. He let them make a fake front page for that week’s newspaper, complete with a picture of a dinosaur invading their school and then he printed out a copy for them. That was a great visit also.
Gathering, Opening, and Business
Prepare a gathering activity if you think you will need one. If you need some simple take along gathering activities, check out my Puzzles page. Puzzles are simple to take with you. With both of our visits, the activities started as soon as we arrived. We did not have time for gathering activities or opening ceremonies at any of our Go See Its. The same was true for business items. We just didn’t do them on Go See Its. So just do whatever works for you.
Activities
This is the main event. It’s difficult for Tigers to not enjoy something like this. If you have set up your visit with someone who is used to dealing with young kids you won’t have to do much other than watch the smiles on their faces.
Closing
Once again, you might or might not be able to do a closing. You can always just do the Tiger Motto together – “Search, Discover, Share”.
After the Meeting
Don’t forget to have your Tiger Cubs follow up with thank you notes to the places they visit. This fits in especially well with Achievement 4 and it fulfills one of the requirements for the Good Manners belt loop.
Also, note the information that Tigers who have attended all 8 meetings and done all of the home assignments have completed their Tiger badge. For those who still have some work to do to finish the badge because they missed a meeting or because they didn’t do a home assignment, follow up with their parents with a list of what they still need to do on their own.
