The core value for Cub Scouts for the month of June is Perseverance. According to the program helps perseverance is:
Sticking with something and not giving up, even if it is difficult.
So how can you fit this into your pack program? Here are some ideas:
- Mazes make a great gathering activity. Have some printed out to keep your scouts busy.
- Strategy games like chess and checkers require kids to think ahead and stay focused. Organize a mini tournament or work on the Chess Belt Loop.
- Play a challenging game which requires scouts to stick with it. The Human Knot game and I Can Do That with One Hand Tied Behind My Back are good examples.
- Fishing takes some patience also. Have a pack fishing outing and work on the Fishing Belt Loop.
- Do an outdoor scavenger hunt. Scouts will have to try to find lots of items on the list.
