Printable Explanation of the Water Cycle

With all of the rain we’ve been having lately, this seems like a good time to post this aid to help explain the water cycle. I made this aid to help my Webelos when they were working on the Weather belt loop as a requirement for the Scientist activity badge. The material also fits in with the Weather merit badge.

The idea is that the Scouts can look at this handout and see the explanation of the water cycle and learn the terms. Then they can draw their own water cycle to meet the requirements. I’ve found that for some of the Scouts who are currently in my den, they just really need something in front of them to get through the requirements where they make a poster.

So download the sheet using the link below. It includes a simple diagram of the water cycle and gives a brief description of the terms.

Thanks for the water cycle handout. I have a more complicated version that the boys definitely understand at this level and the “artsy” kids like. Yours has a good explanation of terms and great to show the process without having the picture be complicated.

Here’s a great site to use for setting up a weather station and making some items that could count under Craftsman: http://sln.fi.edu/weather/todo/
