Hockey Belt Loop

Hockey Belt Loop for Cub Scouts

Do you have anyone in your Pack who plays hockey? If so, have them check out the Hockey Belt Loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. This is one of the sports which was added to the program in 2009.

Note that the requirements can be met by playing hockey on ice skates or on roller skates. So even Scouts in warmer climates can earn this one.

Don’t forget to follow the BSA skating guidelines, found in the Sports and Activities section of the Guide to Safe Scouting.

Question about the Hockey Belt Loop. My den constructed their own hockey nets and hockey sticks (PVC & wood) and are excited to try them, but most of the boys don’t know how to skate or their parents won’t let them. So, is playing field/street/deck/gym (no skates) hockey acceptable for requirement #3?
