Wolf Council Fire

Wolf Adventure Requirements: Council Fire

This is a preview of one of the new Cub Scout requirements which will go into effect in the 2015-2016 program year. See the BSA Program Updates page for complete information.

Council Fire is one of the Wolf CORE Adventure Requirements.  In the current Wolf  program, it is most similar to Wolf Achievement 4 – Know Your Home and Community and Wolf Achievement 7 – Your Living World.

For this adventure, Wolves learn about being a member of a community. They plan a service project, look for ways they can help in their area, and actively participate in making their community better.

The requirement for this adventure are shown below. Upon completion of this adventure, Wolves will receive a belt loop.

Wolf Adventure: Council Fire

  1. Work with your den to develop a den duty chart, and perform these tasks for one month.
  2. Do the following:
    1. Discover information about the plants and animals in your area. Discuss with your den and den leader how people living nearby can affect the lives of these plants and animals.
    2. Learn about the changes in your community, and create a project to show your den how the community has changed.
    3. Select one issue in your community, and present to your den your ideas for a solution to the problem.
  3. Do the following:
    1. Attend the pack committee leaders’ meeting. Present ideas to the pack committee regarding your service project.
    2. Work together on a community service project.
  4. Talk to a military veteran, law enforcement officer, member of the fire department, or someone else who works for the community. Talk about his or her service to the community. After you have visited with the individual, write a short thank you note.
  5. Do the following:
    1. Learn about the three R’s of recycling: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Discover a way to do each of these at home, at school, or in your community.
    2. Make your own recycling center, or contribute to an existing one.
    3. Create a den project from recyclables for a pack meeting.

I had understood that they were going to get rid of the obnoxious belt loop requirements but it seems that they are just making things harder for all concerned. Why???
