Just want to say your site is awesome. I have learned alot about scouting and have used quit a bit of your ideas on here for my den. I do have one question being it is a little confusing with the different patches I have come across. Is there a difference between the BSA Family Award and the BSA Fun for the Family Award? I did find the Family award book made copies and have been going over some of it with my den but then I came across the Fun for the Family Award and 5 different patches. I hope you can clear this up as I think I have been telling the boys wrong about the patches that they will earn after completing the requirements. Thank you for any information that you can get me.
These are all part of the same program, but like many BSA programs it has changed over the years. First make sure you are working from the most recent version of the book. Also, check with your local council service center to see which patches and pins for the program they have available.
For those of you who are not familiar with the program, families do two activities from each of five different areas:
- Learning Through Fun and Adventure
- Strengthening Family Relationships
- Developing Personal Strengths
- Teaching Responsibility
- Handling Difficult Situations
So your best bet is to make sure you have a current copy of the workbook. If so, use the requirements to earn the patches and pins as detailed in the book.
