My Webelos den has started working on Fitness. This activity badge is required for the Webelos badge.
When I told my guys we were working on Fitness activity badge, they were all ready to go outside and do some situps and pushups. I had to break the news to them that they’ll have to wait for Athlete activity badge to do that. Fitness is all about healthy habits.
Most of the requirements must be done with a parent. So at our meeting, I talked to them about what they needed to discuss with their parents and sent them home with some handouts. We’ll follow up on what they did at home at a later meeting.
When we were finished with all of the talking we played a team building game and then headed out to the playground for ten minutes. That was their reward for being really well behaved during the discussion part.

Preparation
Your will need to gather these materials beforehand:
- A US flag for the opening ceremony
- Printouts for the meeting
Gathering Activity
Play Human Knot Game
Prep one Scout to plan and lead the opening flag ceremony. That Scout will complete requirement 6 for his Webelos badge.

Do the Fitness Character Connection (Requirement 1)
Discuss the requirements 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Explain what they will need to discuss with their parents. Give them handouts to help:

- Home Safety Checklist for Cub Scouts (Can also be used for Family Member requirement 6)
- Bike Safety and Etiquette
- Hiking Safely
- Tips for Conducting a Fire Drill
- Travel Safety Checklist

For Requirement 4: Weekly Meal Log
For Requirements 5, 6, and 7: Fitness Activity Badge Worksheets

Play an active game for a few minutes
Closing
Hand out recognitions
Announcements for upcoming pack and den events
