BSA provides den meeting plans for den leader on the Scouting.org website. These plans are full of Bear den meeting ideas. Today, I am going to go through the ninth Bear Cub Scout plan. This plan focuses on Bear Achievement 16 – Building Muscles and Bear Achievement 15 – Games, Games, Games!

BSA Bear Den Meeting 9 – Building Muscles and Games, Games, Games!
Preparation and Before the Meeting
This meeting doesn’t require much preparation at all. Yeah!
Check out my gathering activities page for some ideas.
Be organized so you can move through the business items efficiently and quickly. Your Bear Cub Scouts will want to get on to the active part of the meeting.
You will start with the warm up and exercises for Achievement 16a:
Do physical fitness stretching exercises. Then do curl-ups, push-ups, the standing long jump, and the softball throw.
Then you will move on to the two person contests for 16b:
With a friend about your size, compete in at least six different two-person contests, for example, One-Person Push Over Line, Pull Over Line, One-Person Pull Over Line, Seated Back-to-Back Push, Foot Push, One-Legged Hand Wrestle, Stand-Up Back-to-Back Push, Hand Wrestle, Elbow Wrestle.
For the two person contests, I found it was not only important to match up size but also personalities. We had to switch a couple of pairs partway through because they just couldn’t work it out together.
Next, do the races for 16c. My den really enjoyed these.
Compete with your den or pack in the crab relay, gorilla relay, 30-yard dash, and kangaroo relay.
Finally, play a den game for Achievement 15b. Some suggestions:

After the Meeting
There probably won’t be much to clean up, but have the Cub Scouts help you put away any equipment you used. And don’t forget to ask some parents to help out at the next meeting.
